6 different types of job interviewers
Job interviews
All interviewers will each have their own style or interviewing technique but basically there are six different types of interviewer, these are the absentee, the buddy, the inquisitor, the laser beam, the shotgun and the silver bullet.
It is helpful if you can determine which type of interviewer you have got for your interview then you are able to take steps to adjust your approach to the interview. If you can recognise the form of the interviewer then you will be more prepared and seem more on top.
The absentee
Sometimes the interviewer will come across as though they are not actually there with you in the room, they seemingly are miles away. This could be because of two main reasons, it could be due to work issues or the interviewer could be totally unprepared for the interviewer of a newcomer to interviewing.
Telephone job interviews
Job interviews
Sometimes for many different reasons you may be invited for an interview but instead of turning up at a place and meeting the interviewer face to face you may be asked to take part in a telephone interview. This type of interview is just as important in every aspect and should be treated no differently than if you were meeting face to face and it will usually determine if you will gain a second interview in person.
A phone interview will generally last for 20 to 30 minute and may include just one interviewer or more may be sat in listening. Here are some guidelines for a successful telephone interview:
Which kind of resume is right for you?
Resumes
Maybe you are just starting out in the job hunting world or have been in a position for many years and for one reason or another you now find yourself having to start job hunting all over again, whatever the reason you have something in common and that is writing a resume.
But how do you know which resume is the right one for you, as you look deeper into resume writing there just doesn’t seem to be a “general” resume. Resumes are something personal they have to show you at your best and the achievements or skills that you have earned.
There are many different styles and formats of resume and only you can decide which the best one for you is. There are however sample resume formats that can help you to decide which one is the best for you, then after made the choice comes the hard part, writing your resume.
Writing job interview thank you letters
Job interviews
So you got this far, the company liked your resume they gave you the interview and it went well so what now, is it in the bag so to speak and you just sit and wait for the call back asking when you can start?
The answer is no, just because you think it went well doesn’t mean you will get the job for sure. What if they interviewed others after you and they went well too? What if others also bothered to write a thank you letter after the interview?
So what’s the point of the interview thank you letter, the thank you letter can go a long way to helping you clinch the position and plays just as an important role as your resume did in getting you the interview in the first place.
